This energy manager training has seen over ten thousand people already certified worldwide, Certified Energy Manager® (CEM) issued by Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), is recognised internationally as the ultimate qualification in the field. This seminar will be delivered in two three-day blocks:
Part 1: Tue 25 to Thu 27 Sept 2018
Part 2: Mon 8 to Wed 10 Oct 2018
It will be presented by Ian Boylan, M.Eng.Sc  CEM CEA  CMVP. Ian is a chartered engineer and independent energy consultant. If you or your technical colleagues need a good advanced course in energy management, the CEM (Certified Energy Manager) programme from our parent association, AEE, comes highly
recommended by past trainees.

This feedback from an energy manager in local government is typical:

“The training itself was very informative and well presented by Ian Boylan and I learnt a lot from Ian as well as other delegates. This has been great for developing confidence and technical understanding in what is a challenging area to work in. Overall it has been a positive experience and would definitely recommend it to others wanting to consolidate knowledge on the latest in energy management”

An energy manager in industry described CEM as “much more comprehensive and technical” than another comparable course of the same duration he had undertaken.

You will learn about:
  • Codes and standards
  • Energy accounting and economics
  • Energy audits and instrumentation
  • Electrical systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Motors and drives
  • Industrial systems
  • Building envelope
  • CHP systems and renewable energy
  • Fuel supply and pricing
  • Building automation and control systems
  • High performance buildings
  • Thermal energy storage systems
  • Lighting systems
  • Boiler and steam systems
  • Maintenance and commissioning
  • Energy savings performance contracting
  • Measurement and verification

There is an open-book examination on the final day.

Candidates with a UK degree in engineering, maths or a technical subject plus three years' energy management experience can expect to be awarded the CEM qualification if they attend both blocks of training and pass the examination. Candidates with different prior academic qualifications may be able to claim experience in lieu, but should enquire about their eligibility to be entered for the examination.
